The Borradaile Challenge is the fundamental way that chapters have their performance evaluated over the course of a calendar year. Encapsulating 12 categories, chapters can fall into one of three standings for each: Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, or Outstanding.

To determine final standings, the Executive Offices use a customized grading scale that assigns point values to each category to calculate a final standing. In an effort to provide full transparency into the grading process, you can download the grading scale here.

Health & Safety
Chapter does not have any Health & Safety Policy violations and all Health & Safety seminars and reports are submitted on time.
New Members
New associate members go through an official new member education program and online training.
Financial
Chapter is financially current with payment to the National Fraternity and has not received a financial suspension for a 90-day balance with the Executive Offices during the previous calendar year.
Reporting
All reports to the Executive Officers are submitted on time.
Campus Relationship
The chapter meets with the institution’s Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) staff or other relevant office at least once a semester.
Educational Programs
The chapter attends all mandatory Phi Kappa Tau Educational Programs as required.
Public Relations / Social Media
Chapter social media posts adhere to the Phi Kappa Tau Social Media Policy and are consistent with the Fraternity’s values and mission.

Minimum Expectations:
Chapter Size is 40 members or above the campus IFC average size.
